Gel nail polish and remover

Best way to remove gel nail polish properly

Gel Nail polish is a nail lacquer that is set with UV light to harden it; Gel Nail polish is known for being especially durable for a period of 10 days to 3 weeks. Salons that give gel manicures also remove the polish; however, you can remove it at home if necessary. Remember this process every 10 days and 3 weeks makes your nails weaken and weaken.

Whether you want to try something new, just start with nail polish, or long for a long-lasting formal, gel nail polish is all you need. Compared to other regular nail polish, gel lasts longer than regular nail polish, and unlike fake nails, it’s a liquid formula nail polish that is applied directly to the nail. Throughout the years, gel nail polish has revolutionised how we wear and maintain our manicures, offering long-lasting colour and durability.

However, when it comes to removing the gel nail polish, it’s essential to do it properly to avoid damaging your nails. Getting them removed at a salon professionally is a way smarter and more costly option, but it’s only sometimes possible. So, here’s all you need to know to remove gel nail polish safely.

Best ways to remove the gel nail polish by yourself:

First, prepare your nails and supplies

  • Clean your nails carefully with a clean slate, making sure to remove all the dirt
  • Prepare nail supplies such as acetone-base nail polish remover, aluminium foil, cotton pads, nail buffer, moisturizing hand cream and cuticle pusher or orangewood stick.
  • Start by carefully buffing the surface of your gel nails with a nail buffer and breaking the top coat seal. Be careful not to be too aggressive; doing so can damage your natural nails.
  • Coat your cuticles and the surrounding skin with cuticle oil or thick moisturizer to protect the skin from the drying acetone. It can cause the skin to dry.

Prepare Foil and cotton.

Cut the aluminium foil into small pieces and wrap them around each finger. Cotton pads or balls are made into big pieces to cover the nail.

Soak Nails in Acetone

It’s time to soak cotton pads in acetone-based nail polish remover until saturated. You can also directly put acetone in a bowl and soak your fingers for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes, check your nail to see if the polish is removed. If not, soak your fingers for five more minutes until the polish is off the nail.

Gently remove the gel polish.

After soaking, gently press down on the foil-wrapped nails to remove the gel polish. Now, it’s time to gently remove the softened nail polish with a cuticle pusher or orangewood stick. Start from the cuticle and then slowly work towards the tip of the nail. You should do it gently and be careful not to damage the natural nail.

Moisturize

Now that you have removed your nail polish wash your hands properly to remove all the remaining residue. Then, moisturizing cream or oil softens and hydrates your nails and surrounding skin.

Treat yourself to a hydrating manicure after the removal

File Nails:

  • It’s time to file our nails carefully to the desired length. When filing your nails, be careful to file them in one direction at a time, starting from the outer edges of the nails and going slowly inside.
