DIY scrubs are a beneficial thing if it is made and applied correctly. It helps take out the dead skin cells and helps unclog the dirt and oil that lives in the pores and causes a breakout. Store-bought products contain chemicals and many other ingredients with unknown benefits; that’s another reason to make your exfoliating scrubs.

These scrubs should be used two to three times a week; using them every day is also not good for the skin. Whenever you are trying out a new product, try using it before going to bed. Because of that, your skin will get time to recover while sleep if you have an adverse reaction.

Basic baking soda scrubs

Ingredients

  • Baking soda
  • Facial cleanser
  • Water

Direction

  • Mix the baking soda with the regular facial cleanser for making an exfoliating cleanser. You can also make a paste with just soda and water.
  • Let it be on your skin for 5 to 10 minutes, and gently rinse it off.

Nourishing sugar scrubs

Another best natural exfoliant is granulated sugar. Mix the sugar with honey. Honey contains powerful antioxidant and antimicrobial properties that can be very beneficial for the skin.

Ingredients

  • One teaspoon honey
  • lemon juice
  • One teaspoon raw sugar

Directions

  • Mix the sugar and honey and squeeze the fresh lemon juice
  • Mix all of them well
  • If the mixture becomes loose, add a bit of sugar.
  • Apply it on the face at leaving it for 10 to 20 minutes, and rinse it off with the warm water

Invigorating coffee scrubs

Coffee is another best natural exfoliant. Coffee contains caffeic acid that has inflammatory effects, and it can boost collagen production. We use coffee to simulate our body, but it can serve skin stimulate as well.

Ingredients

  • One tablespoon ground coffee
  • 1/2 tablespoon olive oil

Directions

  • Make a mixture of coffee and olive water.
  • Apply it on the face at leaving it for 10 to 20 minutes, and rinse it off with the warm water
  • Avoid using the moisturizer afterwards because the oil will make your skin super-moisturized.

Sea salt scrubs

Salt contains antibacterial properties that can be beneficial for some skin conditions. Salt is also a preservative. Because of that, the sea salt scrub will be able to preserve itself naturally.

Using ground sea salt will be best instead of coarse sea salt because it can be too harsh on your skin. For sensitive skin, sea salt scrubs may be too abrasive. Moreover, be careful if you have any cuts on your skin as the salt can sting.

Salt has no fragrance, so you can add your favourite essential oils to your DIY salt scrub if you want to.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup sea salt
  • 1/2 cup oil of your choice
  • essential oils (optional)

Directions

  • Make a mixture of sea salt and oil in a mixing bowl.
  • Mix properly and add more salt or oil to get the consistency right f needed.
  • You can also add one or two drops of your favourite essential oil and stir it into the mixture.
  • Once the consistency and fragrance of your scrub are satisfied, spoon it into a container.
